Ever since the enchanting story of Cinderella famously using her glass slipper to win over the prince of her dreams, footwear has long been an integral part of a bride's wedding wear plan - despite the fact that most wedding gowns are long and floor grazing, the shoe that will carry the bride down the aisle is of much significance.
For years, the traditional bridal shoe was white. Realizing that most women would never wear a white dress shoe again, bridal shoes began carrying "dyeables," satin shoes that could be dyed to another colour after the wedding day. Designers attempted to fulfill the Cinderella fantasy by creating shoes with Lucite heels or clear vinyl uppers to mimic the glass slipper.
Today's brides, however, are edgier - modern brides have taken to wearing a coloured wedding shoe.
"Colour is a great way to express yourself, tropical wedding flowers wholesale mermaid wedding dresses wholesale mermaid wedding dresses" says Summer Bellessa, Editor-in-Chief of Eliza Magazine. "Back in the day, white dresses were thought to be an extravagance silver bridesmaid dresses sale ; a dress you could wear after the big day cheap short prom dresses cheap short prom dresses, was more practical. If a pink or yellow dress isn't your thing, then spice up a traditional dress with colorful shoes, ribbon, or under slip. Give the flowers a little competition."
"I don't think color should be a faux pas," Bellessa adds. "It's your wedding; trumpet prom dress you get to pick what kind of bride you are."
Those who want to incorporate colour into their bridal attire can choose a shoe shade based on their bridal party's colours, selecting a shoe that will match the bridesmaids' gowns. Others might opt for a deep cobalt blue shoe as their "something blue," while others might choose a stunning scarlet red if for nothing but impact and a stark contrast to the white of the gown.
"Slipping on the right pair of shoes makes me feel fierce," says a weddingbee.com blogger known as Mrs. Tartlet. "Self confidence is priceless. I love brides who sneak in that pop of colour.
