In honor of this fabulous Royal Wedding Week (which, I do have to admit I am rather excited about.  Mostly, I’m just dying to see the 3 after months and months of speculation . . . oh how I do hope it’s McQueen!!), I thought I would share another fun wedding tidbit with you.

Now, this little tale is a bit embarrassing for me; however, hopefully, you short prom dresses under 150 dollars , my dear readers will find some amusement in my crazy, one track mind.  One could even call it fanaticism. Can I go so far as to say that some of you may may even identify with my plight?  Oh how passionate and resolute we get, or at least I get, in the name of fabulous fashion.  When I find the perfect anything there is little anyone can do to stop me in my attempts at procuring it.

So here we go, this story begins with my arduous and involved search for my perfect 6 for the big day, which you might recall from my previous posts on said search.

I often referred to my want and need to find something distinct, different and oh so glamorous:  more red carpet ready than wedding, more glorious 4 than traditional 8 .

This novel seed was initially planted during the awards show season.  From the Golden Globe’s to the SAG Awards to the Oscar’s to the Emmys I watched gorgeous actress after gorgeous actress glide down the 0 in one beauteous 7 after the other.

Now, I never really acted on these lovely thoughts.  Most red carpet 3 are couture, right off the runway, crazy expensive, often one-of-a-kind, made for the actress in question and only her.  In other words, very unattainable.

Then, however, I saw the Red Vera Wang (notice how I put that in all caps 0 ), Sandra Bullock’s to-die-for gown at this year’s Oscars.  There was just something about this gown that spoke to me.  Perhaps it had something to do with the fact that by this point in the game I had tried on every dress in the book:  traditional wedding, red carpet and everything in between; and, wedding dresses summer uk wedding dresses summer uk  therefore, knew exactly what I was looking for.  And this Red Vera was it – the perfect combo of fashion forward, elegance and wedding, but it had to be in white or ivory, of course.

So the day after the Oscars, I was off . . . blinders on, laser focus.  By hell or high water I was going to procure this puppy for the big day.  Fuggedabout the fact that it was made for Sandra just for the Oscars, one of a kind.  Meaning that there was really only a single sketch, not pattern in sight for mass production or any further production of the gown for that matter.  Nope, I was certain I could get around that teensy weensy technicality.

Therefore, putting all humility aside I started my quest for the red carpet dress.

My first step was a small one.  Since I had been working with the very gracious and wonderful peeps at the Vera Wang store in LA already I thought I would simply ask them first if it was possible.  As expected they came back with a big fat no, a nice no, but a no indeed.  The response was that if Vera did incorporate it into a collection it would be seasons off.

My thoughts of course were, but, couldn’t they make me another one in white?  9 are custom made already. (Really, what was I thinking?!)

After that I knew I had to go for the big guns.  I reached out to everyone I knew who could possibly have a connection at Vera.  Remember, I had blinders on . . . go, go, go until it gets done!

And, then, I had a break through!  My dear friend who is a power celeb. publicist in LA (although you would never ever know it . . . salt of the Earth!) and to her chagrin, deals with this gown stuff on a regular basis, connected me to someone.

For a few short days it was a real possibility, and, then, well, it wasn’t.  After that, I, thank goodness, came to my senses and realized there was never really ever a possibility of anyone making the Sandra dress for little old me.
